A free maintained forum if you host with us |

One of our sister companies is myfreeforum.org this will provide anyone with a free forum supported by adverts.
This solution is not always ideal for business because the forum is
located away from your web site, and of course has advertising that is
not of your choice.
By hosting with us though, you can use one of these free forums with
an advertising arrangement of your choice. This saves the considerable
expense of updating and maintaining a forum yourself.

Which point to the same forum, whilst keeping a different address in the address bar of your web browser.
You will note adverts on one forum, but not the other!

We are not a typical hosting company with a range of hosting plans, we offer a bespoke service designed around your needs.
The reason for this is quite simple. Web hosting has become far too
cheap! You can now easily find hosting providers who will offer a full
featured service for say £6 a month.
Let's consider for a moment what this means? If we say that a mere
£1 of that money is used to provide the hardware and bandwith for the
service, then that leaves the grand sum of £60 a year to provide
support. £60 does not even pay for two hours time for a real web
engineer's efforts on your behalf.
This means in practice, hosting companies are either overworked,
going broke, providing poor support or economising on the hardware so
you will have a slow web site.
We do not want any of those labels applied to m4webdesign.
As such at m4webdesign our hosting starts at £6 a month for a plain
"html" site (e.g. one that will not support forums etc) and will be a
minimum of £10 a month for a "php" enabled site with mysql databases
etc.

Do I gain copyright when you create a web site? |
When we create a web site, all of the content and logos on your site will have copyright assigned to you for those parts of the design that are specific to you.
Parts of your site that are not exclusive to you "content", will be licenced under an open source licencing agreement. Which simply means that you are free to use them and transfer them to other designers, but they cannot be sold.
In a nutshell it all means that you have all the rights you need to take your site off our hands, without finding you are in breach of anything legally.

These days when people search for goods and services, the internet of often the first and last port of call.
As such a web site may be vital as either a complete shop front, or simply as a means of finding you.
But don't jump too quickly. You have to consider who is going to find you on the web and how they are going to do it?
If you are running "Manor farm shop of Highworth" then only your existing customers are going to look for this name directly. People looking for a local farm shop, will probably look look at directory listings for farm shops. It is similar with "Bed & Breakfast" accomodation.
When someone does find you via a listing, it will look more professional and help sell your product/service if there is an associated web site. But the costs need to be taken into account.
You might also consider whether a free advertising service such as that offered by downsizer.net would be an adaquate free alternative.
